Intro Bio
Evgenia Georganda is an Existential-Humanistic psychotherapist, trained in the United States, holding a doctoral degree (Psy.D.) from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology and a master in arts (M.A.) from Tufts University. She studied psychology at Deree College in Athens and at the University of Athens where she graduated summa cum laude. Since 1986 she lives and works in Athens, Greece, as a mental health professional. She has been a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and of Division 32 of Humanistic Psychology since she graduated in 1986. She has also been a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. She is a certified psychotherapist and a member of the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP), the Federation for Existential Therapy in Europe (FETE), the Hellenic Psychological Society (HPS), and the Association of Greek Psychologists (SEPS).
She has had a long teaching career in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, teaching psychology and existential psychotherapy at private colleges, seminars in private institutions in Greece and abroad, as well as the Greek University (University of Thessaly and University of Athens). She has participated as a speaker to numerous international and local conferences and has collaborated with the Student Counseling Center of the University of Athens (UOA) on issues related to supporting students with disabilities.
Her research and publishing activity includes four books, two albums from solo photography exhibitions, and numerous articles in Greek and international journals and edited volumes. She has worked extensively with individuals facing chronic or life-threatening illnesses, and she has served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF), the National Organization of Psychotherapists of Greece (NOPG), and membership secretary and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Federation for Existential Therapy in Europe (FETE).
As part of her contribution to promoting existential psychotherapy in Greece, she co-founded in 2004 the Hellenic Association for Existential Psychology “Gignesthai,” where she serves as member of the board, trainer and supervisor. She is an honorary member of the Board of Advisors of the journal “The Humanistic Psychologist “, published by div.32 of APA) and of the International Advisory Board of the Existential Movement (EM). In 2023, she was honored with the Charlotte and Karl Bühler Award from APA Division 32 for her and her association’s (“gignesthai”) outstanding and lasting contribution to humanistic psychology. In 2026 she was bestowed the Socrates Medal from the Existential Movement (EM) in recognition of her lifelong and dedicated commitment to bringing wisdom to the world.
